Elegant Structures: Federica Fragapane’s Award-Winning Infographics

Italian information designer Federica Fragapane has a remarkable ability to turn sprawling datasets into elegant visual narratives. Her flowing networks and soft palettes have appeared everywhere from Wired to Corriere della Sera, and three of her projects, Space Junk, Land Defenders and Noise Pollution, are now part of MoMA’s permanent collection.

Her distinctive approach blends precision with a sense of organic rhythm, where circular diagrams bloom like botanical illustrations and layered waveforms depict topographical maps. It’s a visual language that makes even dense information feel approachable. This balance of clarity and character has led to collaborations with the BBC, Google and the United Nations, as well as a recent 16‑piece installation on global inequality at Triennale Milano.
