ESR Geo Wallet Review: You’ll never lose your wallet again

We’ve all experienced that awful jolt of panic when we realize our wallet is missing.

That rush of anxiety as your mind races through a list of everything you could lose, from credit cards and IDs to irreplaceable family photos. It’s a stressful situation that none of us want to deal with.

The new ESR Geo Wallet was specifically designed to make this dreaded experience a thing of the past. This smart wallet is the first ever to come with Apple’s Find My feature built right into its classic design, offering convenience and peace of mind.

In this article, I’ll dive into what the Geo Wallet promises in terms of functionality, and check out its features and design to help you figure out if it’s something you’d want to get your hands on.

The ESR Geo Wallet comes with an integrated Apple Find My module that allows you to track its location in real-time using the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Right now, the wallet only plays nice with Apple devices, which means Android users are out of luck when it comes to using Google’s Find My Device functionality. Hopefully ESR will release an Android-compatible version down the line.

The built-in tracking module includes a small, discreet speaker that can be triggered via the app to help pinpoint the wallet’s exact location when misplaced. This speaker is quite loud, so you should have no trouble finding the wallet if you ever misplace it in a large house or office space.

The tracking device is powered by a rechargeable battery that can last up to 5 months on a single charge, so you’ll only have to charge it a couple of times a year.

In addition to the tracking functionality, the Geo wallet also features RFID-blocking technology to protect your sensitive info from unauthorized scans.

Setting things up

Getting started with the ESR Geo Wallet is super easy. First, you’ll want to charge it with the magnetic charger included in the box. This should take about two hours.

Once it’s fully charged, you can turn the tracking device on by pressing the small power button located near the charging pins. This will put the device in pairing mode, and from here all you have to do is open up the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, add the wallet as a new item and give it a name. It’s that simple.

After that, you can start tracking your wallet in real-time and set up alerts for when you accidentally leave it behind. As mentioned earlier, you can also use the app to play a loud chime that helps you track down the wallet if you misplace it around the house.

Design and Build Quality

The ESR Geo Wallet is made from an eco-friendly faux leather that gives it a sophisticated look, making it feel quite premium, and it comes in seven colors to suit various styles.

ESR sent me the “Aged Leather” version for this review, and I have to say, it looks pretty sharp in a deep caramel brown. The vegan leather material feels sturdy, but we’ll have to wait and see how well it holds up over time.

The craftsmanship is excellent, with perfect stitching all around and a subtle ESR logo embossed in the bottom right corner that doesn’t detract from its overall clean design.

The wallet’s slim profile and minimalist style is similar to other classic bifold wallets, and although it’s slightly larger than my previous Hardgraft wallet, it slips into my pockets quite easily.

Despite its slim form factor, I was able to fit up to 9 cards within its sleeves and inner slots, and it also includes two larger compartments for bills, with a small pocket for coins tucked away there too.

This handy flap with transparent display sleeves gives you quick access to frequently used cards or IDs, all in clear view.

The tracking module is placed behind this flap, and that’s where you’ll find the magnetic charging pins and power button.

There’s something worth mentioning here about the position of the power button. I usually carry only the essentials in my wallet and rarely have any cash on me, but while I was testing out the Geo Wallet, I thought it would be interesting to push things a bit and see how it handles a more extreme scenario.

What I found was that if you stuff your wallet too full, George Costanza style, you might accidentally trigger the power button due to all the pressure. This happened a couple of times when I was pulling my fully packed wallet out of my pocket. So, if you tend to overpack like George, keep this in mind, but if you’re more sensible with what you carry, you’ll be just fine.

Pricing

The ESR Geo Wallet is currently being offered at an early bird pricing of $44 USD on Indiegogo, which is very compelling for a high-quality smart wallet with integrated tracking features, particularly when you factor in the cost of having to buy a separate tracking device like an AirTag. After the early bird period, the pricing will go up to $55.

If you want something more affordable that still has full Find My capabilities, the ESR Magsafe Wallet might be worth considering as well. It’s only $33.99, and also works as a handy adjustable stand for your iPhone.
