AYN Says “Hold My Beer” With Thor, a Dual-Screen Android Rival to AYANEO’s Pocket DS

Published Aug 20, 2025

Just one day after AYANEO opened pre-orders for the Pocket DS, AYN fired back with its own dual‑screen handheld.

The AYN Thor is a new clamshell Android device that’s set to go head-to-head with AYANEO’s Pocket DS.

What We Know

  • AYN has unveiled Thor in a short-but-sweet teaser video, landing within 13 hours of the Pocket DS pricing reveal (because timing is everything).
  • The device is a clamshell dual‑screen Android handheld, marking AYN’s first crack at this design.
  • Though specifics are scarce, the video mentioned a Snapdragon SoC, leaving room for speculation on whether it’s a Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, or the Pocket DS’s Snapdragon G3x Gen 2.*
  • Both screens are OLED: the top panel is a 6-inch 120Hz display, while the bottom comes in at 3.92 inches with 60Hz refresh.
  • AYN teased that the Odin 3 is also on the way, but no additional information has been revealed at this stage.

* Update: AYN has now confirmed some additional details. The handheld will come in two chipset options, Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 8 Gen, packing a 6,000mAh battery. It will also be very lightweight and compact, coming in at just 380g, with dimensions of 150 x 94 x 25.6mm.

Why We’re Hyped

AYN’s move is more than timely – it’s bold. Dropping Thor just a day after the Pocket DS Indiegogo launch feels deliberate.

The design hints at a more compact device, which could be the sweet spot for many. And if it does come packed with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, this will be a very compelling handheld.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for the full specs, pricing and features, and will share more details as soon as they’re revealed. **

** Update: The AYN Thor is now available for pre-order, starting at $249.00 for the base ‘Lite’ model with a Snapdragon 865, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Find out more on AYN’s website.
