Dreams in Fragments: Flora Borsi’s Surreal Photography
Published Jan 28, 2026
Hungarian visual artist Flora Borsi is back on the grid with new works from her ongoing Dreams series, a body of surreal images crafted through expressive self-portraiture and meticulous digital manipulation. Shot across locations including Oostende, Forest Beach, Aurach and Namibia, each image starts as a real photograph that Flora then tweaks and reconfigures. She cleverly incorporates elements like architecture, landscapes, fire, water and wildlife as structural elements, arranged to frame the body within controlled, highly composed scenes.
Flora places herself at the center of these works, using self-portraiture as subject and method. The images explore states of tension, vulnerability and emotional displacement. Clean silhouettes, balanced compositions and limited color palettes ground the surreal elements, keeping each scene visually focused and deliberate.
Dreams continues Flora’s long-running exploration of identity, emotion and the relationship between body and self. The work shows precise technical skills, but the imagery leaves space for interpretation, allowing each viewer to project their own narrative onto the scene. You can see more from the Dreams series on Flora’s website and revisit our previous features here and here.
