Deflowered: Photo Series by William Josephs Radford
Published Jan 10, 2023
At first glance you might think these are ordinary photos of flowers. However, artist William Josephs Radford used a very specific technique in order to produce a series of unique, thought-provoking images.
To create these high contrast artworks, Radford placed a range of different flowers in a dark room and set his camera to a long exposure. He then proceeded to illuminate them with a phone screen which was playing adult content. He explains:
“The carnal colors and erotic scenes are reflected in the floral arangements, creating a stark contrast between concept and composition.”
William is known for his interest in exploring controversial topics, and this series was created to make a statement about the prevalence of porn addiction in today’s society, and encourage more sensitivity in our world.
