Curating the Grid: Prints by Marçal Prats
Published Apr 6, 2026
“Artwork Catalogue” is a limited-edition print series by Marçal Prats where he reframes curating as a generative act, using the logic of selection, arrangement and sequencing as raw material. The work sits between systems, part archive, part experiment, where grids, type and image fragments are pushed into new visual structures.
Across the series, Marçal builds each composition from simple elements, lines, dots, letterforms, then shifts them through scale, overlap and registration. The prints move between abstract geometric patterns, forms and gradients, and more structured references to tools, interfaces and typographic specimens.
Another key element of the series is the handcrafted print process, where metallic inks, layered screens and subtle misregistrations introduce depth and texture, making each piece unique.
