Crash Landed Part II: Photos by Ken Hermann

Published Feb 13, 2023

“Crash Landed” is a photo series by Ken Hermann documenting the return of an astronaut to a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been abandoned by humans. Through his stunning visuals, Hermann captures the solemn reality of being alone after such an immense journey home.

The series features a lone astronaut who has crash landed on what was once their homeland, now desolate and destroyed. Not only do viewers experience an emotional response to Hermann’s composition, but they are also invited to contemplate on what this could mean for humanity in the future. From its neglected backdrops to its melancholic atmosphere, “Crash Landed” offers a powerful commentary on our connection with our planet and our responsibility for preserving it.
