Crafting Tradition: Tom Lane’s Elegant Visual Identity for Oliver Club
Published Sep 4, 2025
Liverpool-based graphic designer and lettering artist Tom Lane has crafted this stunning identity for Oliver Club Barber Shop, a Los Angeles spot that mixes old-world vibes with a contemporary flair.
Founded by barber Jon Kimm, the Oliver Club pays homage to an early 20th-century Japanese American social club, reviving its spirit of community while offering refined grooming services. Tom’s branding channels this narrative through a mix of elegant script, heritage-inspired typography, and a bespoke coat of arms.
Rich teal and copper tones reinforce a sense of prestige, while the detailed lettering nods to vintage sign painting and barbershop traditions. From business cards and appointment slips to signage and packaging, every element contributes to an immersive experience that elevates the humble barbershop into a true gentleman’s club.
