Cool Sneaker Composites by Carlos Jiménez Varela

Costa Rican digital artist and retoucher Carlos Jiménez Varela has created a series of digital artworks that are sure to make sneakerheads swoon. This ongoing series features gigantic sneakers placed on a range of surprising locations. From vibrant urban areas to isolated tropical forests, the collection of images showcases Varela’s skill in photo manipulation.
The project not only demonstrates Varela’s ability to blend reality and fantasy, but also his love for sneakers. Each image is uniquely composed featuring iconic shoe designs from Nike Air Jordans to Puma Suedes and Speedcats.
Through his skillful use of techniques such as color grading, blending modes, retouching and compositing, Varela is able to create surreal scenes that anyone can relate to yet still be left mesmerized.
