Caymus-Suisun Winery by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson

The Caymus-Suisun Winery in California, designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in collaboration with The Bureau, provides a captivating experience that harmoniously blends nature and architecture.

A stand-out among the series of buildings, the winery’s tasting room is a striking glass pavilion that seamlessly blends with the surrounding vineyards. The structure is raised slightly above the valley floor, offering panoramic views of the lush vineyards and the majestic Howell Mountains. With floor-to-ceiling glass walls and 30-foot-wide sliding doors, the pavilion fosters a fluid connection between the indoor spaces and the natural beauty outside.

The overall design emphasizes natural materials to echo the earthy tones of the valley. The interiors feature custom furniture and artworks by over 30 artists, inspired by the warmth of fire and the hues of autumn. The use of concrete and timber in the reception and retail spaces ensures a harmonious integration with the environment, while large windows frame the vivid colors of the sunset and the vibrant greens of the vineyards.
