Cano House: Sculptural Minimalism by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos

We’ve featured the work of Spanish studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos several times over the years, and their Cano House is another beautiful example of their distinctive approach to minimalist architecture. Located in Alicante, Spain, the single-story residence features a series of crisp white volumes arranged around three distinct areas dedicated to living, sleeping and exercise. A raised central volume gives the main living space extra height, with a deep horizontal frame that makes the structure appear to float above the glass facade.

Positioned along the western edge of the property, the house opens toward a generous garden and swimming pool, preserving mature trees that soften its geometric lines. Floor-to-ceiling glazing connects the living and dining areas to the terrace, creating uninterrupted views of the water and greenery. The bedrooms face east to capture the morning light, while a transitional space between the living and exercise areas encourages natural cross ventilation.

Inside, the minimalist aesthetic takes on a warmer character through extensive oak paneling, custom cabinetry and understated furnishings. Pale flooring and neutral upholstery maintain a cohesive palette, while carefully integrated lighting adds warmth after sunset. Throughout the property, sunlight, reflections and dramatic shadows interact with the pristine white surfaces, highlighting the beautiful simplicity of the architecture.
