Meet Thandiwe Muriu, a self-taught photographer and artist from Kenya that uses everyday objects and bold patterns to create vibrant portraits that capture the spirit of African culture, giving a voice to her subjects and allowing them to express themselves through her art.
She always finds creative ways to combine energetic elements in order to create captivating images that speak volumes about her origins. Inspired by Africa’s colorful landscapes, bright fabrics and diverse cultures, her ‘CAMO’ series celebrates the artist’s African heritage and shines a light on important issues such as identity and self-esteem.
Thandiwe’s beautiful work has been featured in various publications including Vogue Italia, Forbes Africa, and Le Point Afrique.
