Body in Motion: Fluid Bronze Sculptures by Luo Li Rong
Published May 18, 2026
Chinese artist Luo Li Rong creates bronze sculptures that seem to move through air rather than sit still in space. Her figures are shaped with remarkable control, balancing classical modelling with sweeping forms that suggest wind, fabric, water and flame.
Born in Hunan in 1980, Luo studied at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Art, graduating with honours in 2005 before contributing to several public sculpture projects, including works connected to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Now based in Europe, she has built an international following for her refined approach to the female form, with sculptures held in private collections around the world.
The central theme of her practice is momentum, the precise instant when motion and stillness coexist. Bronze becomes weightless in her hands, stretching into veils, fractured ribbons and fluid extensions that wrap around the body or break away from it. Her figures seem to dissolve into the forces that move them, turning solid material into something fluid, suspended and alive.
