Assembly Painting Series by Seung Hwan Kim

Published Mar 12, 2024

The “Assembly Painting” series is a unique collection by South Korean artist Seung Hwan Kim that weaves together fragments of everyday life into one cohesive piece. Drawing upon the rich tapestry of human experience, Kim’s work is an exploration of people, objects, emotions and past events that unfold on his canvas.

Kim’s Assembly Paintings are dynamic, ever-changing artistic expressions. Each artwork in this series is akin to a kaleidoscope: infinitely variable, depending on the choices of the assembler, whether the artist or the viewer. Each element within these paintings possesses its own distinct meaning. However, when assembled together, these elements acquire new images and meanings – much like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle coming together to reveal a larger picture.

His artwork invites viewers to become co-creators, encouraging them to infuse their interpretations into the art pieces. This approach transforms the viewing experience into an engaging dialogue between the artist, the artwork and the viewer.
