Architecture in Motion: The Spatial Studies of Derek Pedrós
Published Apr 21, 2026
Madrid-based photographer and director Derek Pedrós approaches architecture as something to be activated rather than observed. His images place the body inside rigid structures, using movement to test scale, tension and flow.
Derek treats buildings not as backdrops but as choreographic partners. Dancers cut through concrete curves, hold against sharp edges or echo the rhythm of repeating forms, turning static buildings into responsive environments. Lines become pathways, light becomes timing, and surfaces shift into something active.
In several series, bold garments, often in saturated reds or soft neutrals, act as visual anchors against pale concrete and open sky, sharpening the relationship between figure and structure without overpowering it.
