1980s Rewind: Iconic Logos Reimagined by Kostya Petrenko
Published Feb 21, 2025
For a few years now, Czech designer Kostya Petrenko has been taking a creative trip back in time, giving some of today’s most recognizable logos a fun 1980s makeover. His ongoing exploration breathes new life into modern brands like Netflix, Instagram, Google, Spotify, Duolingo, PayPal and PlayStation, reinventing their slick, contemporary styles as if they were born in the days of arcade games and neon lights.
Each redesign pays close attention to the visual language of the era, drawing on bold gradients, chunky typography and bold color palettes. Netflix turns into an old school home video brand, while Instagram takes on the visual energy of the iconic Polaroid rainbow. And to tie everything together, Kostya adds a cool CRT TV effect to his final compositions, making the designs feel like they’re flickering on the tube TV in our childhood living rooms.
To discover even more of these retro reinterpretations, check out Kostya’s creations on Behance, Instagram and his website.
