Wonderful Uzbekistan: Photos Dimitar Karanikolov

Published Mar 13, 2023

Dimitar Karanikolov is a UK-based architect and photographer with a passion for travel. These stunning images were captured during his trip to Uzbekistan where he documented some of the country’s rich culture and history.

The country is located on the ancient Silk Road trading route, which brought together people from all over Asia, Europe, and Africa. His photography showcases the intricate patterns found in Uzbekistan’s architecture, as well as the vibrant colors of its textiles. These images offer a glimpse into an often-overlooked part of the world, inviting viewers to explore this beautiful country through Karanikolov’s lens.

Among the locations visited by Dimitar was Samarkand, one of Uzbekistan’s oldest cities. He registered the intricate details in the city’s buildings with precision, making it clear why it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. Another city he explored was Bukhara which boasts impressive architectural landmarks such as The Ark fortress, The Kalyan Minaret and Po-i-Kalyan complex among others.
