Wimbledon Multi-Exposure Photos by Matt Ben Stone
Published Jul 17, 2023
London-based photographer Matt Ben Stone used multi-exposure techniques to capture the dynamic energy of tennis matches at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. His images artistically depict the players’ motion, power, and emotion on the court, capturing their movement through a photographic study and creating visually striking scenes. In his own words:
“By employing in-camera multiple exposures, I ventured away from the standard sports coverage style and focused on illustrating the rhythmic to-and-fro aspect of the sport. This method empowered me to sequentially layer the players’ swings and serves, constructing a visual narrative that accentuates their quickness and passion.”
The technique allowed Matt to overlay several images, creating an impressionistic view of the matches. The resulting compositions are complex yet harmonious, mirroring the intricate ballet of athleticism and strategy that defines tennis.
