Wild Worlds: Colorful Animal Illustrations by Chaaya Prabhat

Chaaya Prabhat is an award-winning illustrator and digital artist based in Goa, India, whose work spans more than 25 published picture books for major publishers including Nosy Crow, Scholastic, Bloomsbury and Penguin Random House.

The illustrations featured here, many created for the children’s book Animal Tales from India, draw on the deep tradition of Indian fable, reimagining stories of lapwings, monkeys, mice and elephants as fully inhabited ecosystems.

Chaaya’s compositions are bold and graphic, but softened by texture, subtle gradients and hand-made details. Her command of scale and layering is especially impressive, with creatures nestled into dense, botanically exuberant environments where every corner rewards attention.
