Tiny Worlds and Everyday Adventures by David Gilliver
Published Jul 7, 2026
Scottish photographer David Gilliver transforms food, household objects and familiar pop-culture references into playful miniature worlds through his ongoing Little People series.
This long-running collection of macro photographs features figurines that are just 2cm tall, carefully placed within oversized everyday environments. The charm of the series lies in the way scale completely reshapes familiar things. Broccoli turns into a dense forest, a plastic bag becomes an iceberg and a melting ice cream takes on the proportions of a natural disaster.
A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, David specialises in macro photography and long-exposure light painting. We first featured his work during the early years of Inspiration Grid, and his imaginative approach is still as inventive as ever.
