The Sphinx: A Striking Minimalist Residence
Published Nov 5, 2024
“The Sphinx” is a remarkable architectural concept by Spanish studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos.
Conceived with a minimalist philosophy, this house harmonizes seamlessly with its historic surroundings on the north coast of Egypt. The design flows with a single, continuous stroke that outlines the sharp edges of the structure. This stroke, which is less than 30 cm thick, serves not only as a structural element but as a symbolic one, representing the Egyptian god of wisdom.
A standout element of “The Sphinx” is its vertical section, featuring a variable shape that houses the communication hub of the residence. This architectural component not only helps people move between the two floors but also contributes significantly to the building’s expressive form.
