The Black House by Buero Wagner
Published May 30, 2019
German architecture studio Buero Wagner designed this striking residence located in the Bavarian region, next to a forest and near Ammersee Lake.
“Encompassing an 80 square meter plot, ‘The Black House’ directly adjoins to a larger family home next door, yet is distinguished as an independent building.
The modular residence is characterized by its carbonized wood facade, with rooms of different heights stacked together to create a variety of spatial situations.
Inside, the emphasis is on a look of naturalness: all fittings including the kitchen, stairs, cupboards, and doors, are made from untreated, oiled oak, interspersed with sandblasted concrete walls.”
