Structures on the Move: Surreal Collages & Sculptures by Seth Clark
Published Aug 28, 2025
American artist Seth Clark builds uncanny hybrids of architecture and anatomy, stacking derelict houses into towering figures that walk, bend or lounge on human legs. His mixed-media drawings, collages and sculptures fuse the fragility of neglected buildings with the resilience of the human form, transforming decay into something strangely alive.
Seth’s creations tap into our fascination with ruins while revealing the persistence that lingers in their battered frames. His “walking houses” show walls peeling, windows broken, and structures collapsing – metaphors for memory, community and the weight of time, expressed through buildings that feel fragile yet perseverant.
Based in Pittsburgh, where he was named Emerging Artist of the Year in 2015, Seth continues to show nationally, with exhibitions spanning from the Carnegie Museum of Art to art fairs across the country. You can explore more of his fascinating work on his website and Instagram.
