Spatial Balance: Minimalist Studies by Toshitaka Aoyagi

Published Nov 13, 2025

Tokyo-based artist Toshitaka Aoyagi explores the quiet poetry of form, light and space through his ongoing visual studies. In this feature, we’re highlighting two of his most recent series, Rotation and Position, where he uses simple geometric structures rendered in soft white tones to craft subtle, three-dimensional compositions that transform depending on perspective and illumination.

Drawing inspiration from architecture and spatial balance, Aoyagi’s minimalist language reveals infinite variations within simplicity, where even the smallest projection or recess becomes a meditation on proportion, shadow and tension.

You can explore more of Toshitaka Aoyagi’s contemplative works on his website and Behance.
