In Azerbaijan, traditional carpets have always been a symbol of beauty, craftsmanship and culture. Artist Faig Ahmed reimagines these time-honored crafts, giving them a contemporary twist.
Ahmed’s work is both conceptual and sculptural, from tapestries that look like optical illusions to weavings made from traditional textiles but often distorted or deconstructed in unexpected ways. With an approach that blurs the boundaries between tradition and modernity, Ahmed has created a new genre of artwork all his own.
His pieces are imbued with history and yet still feel fresh and exciting, a testament to his ability to reinterpret ancient practices for the 21st century.
