Reimagined World Cup Crests by Miss Marpl
Published Jun 12, 2026
Designer and illustrator Miss Marpl created a charming personal fan art project that reimagines the badges of several national soccer teams. The series translates World Cup heraldry into a single flat-vector vocabulary, drawing from national symbols, coats of arms, animals, colors and football culture to create a set of retro-inspired crests.
The badges balance graphic simplicity with cultural elements from each country. Argentina’s crest centers on the Sun of May, Brazil’s features a toucan and tropical palms, Japan’s is built around a bold black bird, while England, Spain, Portugal, Senegal, Morocco, France, Australia and the United States each get their own distinct heraldic treatment.
Although the project was originally created for Qatar 2022, many of the nations featured are still relevant as attention turns to the 2026 World Cup tournament, with a few exceptions (sorry Wales and Serbia).
