Perceptual Art: Mesmerizing Installations by Jason Sims

Published Nov 18, 2024

Jason Sims is an Australian artist who uses light and reflection to create incredible illusions of space and form.

After getting his Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of South Australia, he developed a unique artistic language that challenges conventional spatial understanding. Using geometric forms, mirrors and lighting, he skillfully manipulates visual perception, transforming simple materials into complex spatial illusions.

His work has been exhibited extensively all over the world, reaching audiences across Australia, Asia, Europe and the US. A key moment in his career was the 2021 commission by Illuminate Adelaide, where Sims was invited to produce a major public artwork. The installation was crafted to celebrate the inaugural year of the festival, further cementing his reputation as an artist capable of creating impactful public art.
