Passion Fruit: Bruno Militelli’s Hypnotic Study of Nature’s Intricate Spirals
Published Nov 26, 2025
Brazilian photographer Bruno Militelli turns the humble passion fruit vine into a mesmerizing world of form and motion in Maracujá, a captivating black-and-white series named after the fruit’s Portuguese name.
The project focuses on the intricate tendrils that allow climbing plants to anchor, stretch and thrive. Bruno isolates these tiny structures with striking clarity, revealing elegant loops, tight coils and striking geometric twists. Stripped of color, each frame becomes a sculptural study in texture and rhythm, highlighting the organic engineering behind the plant’s growth.
What appears delicate is, in reality, beautifully resilient: these spirals are what keep the passion fruit rooted to its surroundings as it reaches for sunlight. Bruno’s hypnotic look at plant morphology shows how even the smallest details of nature can expand into entire visual worlds when observed up close.
