Nothing but Style: Niente’s Strikingly Minimal Packaging

Niente is a new Italian brand of Amaro liqueur that’s all about embracing simplicity in a world of excess. With the goal of launching the “world’s first nihilistic liqueur,” the company teamed up with the creative minds at DUDE Design to help package its unique ethos of “nothingness.”

The result is a hyper-minimalist identity that strips away all distractions, leaving behind a bottle that speaks volumes through its simplicity. With a bold matte black base and crisp white typography featuring a distinctive strikethrough effect, the design reflects the brand’s philosophy, that in an overwhelming world, nothing is everything.

The studio’s approach is a masterclass in understated elegance. Monochrome tones dominate, with no hint of decorative embellishment. Even the product names get the minimalist treatment, varying by market in direct translations of “nothing”: NIENTE in Italian, NOTHING in English, and 无 in Mandarin. This clean, pared-down aesthetic gives Niente a sharp identity while nodding to its nihilistic roots, inspired by thinkers like Nietzsche and Camus, and rock legends like Johnny Rotten and PJ Harvey.
