Nature-Inspired Symbolism: Samantha Mash’s Striking Illustrations
Published Feb 6, 2025
Samantha Mash is a Californian artist who creates ethereal scenes shaped by the serene beauty of the West Coast. Now calling Oregon home, her art pulls from the landscapes that have surrounded her—dry marshes, lush forests, and everything in between. This connection to nature finds its way into her palettes, beautifully incorporating her surroundings into her work.
Samantha’s illustrations are also packed with symbolism, using flowing forms of humans and animals to explore complex emotions and ideas. Her focus on iconography shines through in every aspect of her work, whether it’s editorial designs, branding projects or the personal pieces she sells on her online shop.
Over the years, Samantha’s talent has captured the attention of big names like DC Comics, The New York Times and Penguin, and her art has been displayed coast to coast, from Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles to Spoke Art in New York. Along the way, she’s also received awards and recognition from organizations like the Society of Illustrators.
