Mikino: A Geometric Tribute by Carolina Melis
Published Jun 13, 2024
“Mikino” is the latest creative project by talented illustrator and art director Carolina Melis, featuring a captivating collection of artworks inspired by an iconic character. This series is an evolution of her “Kubikino” project, which combines a predefined library of geometric elements and primary colors to generate various iterations of the same subject.
Carolina takes the concept further in this heartfelt tribute to Steamboat Willie, the original design of Mickey Mouse which has entered the public domain earlier this year. In honor of this milestone, she crafted Mikino, combining her passion for traditional cartoons with elements inspired by the influential Memphis Design Movement.
