Liquid Eyes: Mesmerizing New Work by Mark Mawson
Published Sep 1, 2025
Liquid Eyes is one of the latest series by Mark Mawson, a photographer and director known for his iconic abstract work created with water, ink and other liquids. In this collection, splashes of pigment turn into hypnotic patterns that look strikingly like the intricate details of a human iris.
Mark has a unique ability to capture liquids at just the right instant, freezing them as they bloom and fracture across water. The results can often feel cosmic, surreal, and in this case, biological. The vibrant rings of blue, green and yellow are instantly familiar, like staring into a magnified eye, but they also bring to mind textures from coral reefs, stone surfaces or even distant galaxies.
With Liquid Eyes, Mark continues his decades-long exploration of fluid imagery. It’s a series that feels both experimental and unmistakably his, full of clarity, wonder, and that signature touch.
You can explore more of Mark Mawson’s work on his website, Behance and Instagram.
