Inside the Life Size Pop Up World Crafted by Mark Oliver

The newly opened FAMily Discovery Center in Oklahoma is a joyful, immersive project that combines illustration, education and spatial design, brought to life through the work of British artist Mark Oliver. Designed by Storyline Studio and housed within the First Americans Museum, the space feels like stepping into a giant pop up book. Every surface is covered in artwork inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of Oklahoma, spread across layered wall panels that rise more than three metres high and stretch up to eighteen metres wide.

All vector visuals were created in Adobe Illustrator, to keep every detail sharp whether seen from across the room or just a few centimetres away. Alongside the environments, Mark created six animal guides that appear throughout the center, each designed with the charm of a slot and tab construction. A bright blue mule deer, a towering hawk, a welcoming turtle and other animal companions greet families as they explore the space.
