Hyperrealistic Ocean Paintings by Andreea Ionela Berindei

Auckland-based artist Andreea Ionela Berindei translates the raw kinetic energy of the ocean into meticulous oil and acrylic studies. Her Water series captures the surface of the sea as a complex, three-dimensional landscape, moving beyond the traditional horizon to focus on the architecture of crests and troughs.

Andreea’s process highlights the contrast between the heavy, translucent “glass” of a swell and the fragile, lace-like patterns of sea foam. Her palette moves from deep obsidian tones to electric turquoises, using vibrant shading to define the physical weight of the water. Each brushstroke locks in a moment of tension, just before a wave folds into spray.

Beyond their technical control, the paintings examine the duality of the sea, with its immense power and meditative rhythm.
