Handle With Care: Hyperrealist 3D Paintings by Marica Fasoli

Italian artist Marica Fasoli creates meticulously detailed paintings that transform cardboard boxes into intimate little worlds. The series depicts children sitting, playing and daydreaming inside open packages, combining hyperrealist painting with three-dimensional supports that physically project from the wall. Torn corrugated surfaces, peeling paper and strips of “Fragile” tape complete the illusion of worn cardboard boxes.

Marica’s meticulous hyperrealist technique makes every element feel tangible, from the ridges and creases of the cardboard to the children’s skin, hair, clothing and carefully painted objects.

Born in Bussolengo, Italy, in 1977, Marica originally trained in art conservation and restoration, working on paintings, canvases and historic frescoes before gradually shifting her focus toward her own practice in the early 2000s.
