Fragments: Wood Sculptures by Han Hsu-Tung
Published Dec 21, 2023
Han Hsu-Tung is a talented Taiwanese wood carving artist who creates intricate and detailed sculptures with a pixelated aesthetic.
Han’s sculptures are not your typical wood carvings. The Taiwanese artist has developed a unique style where he constructs three-dimensional sculptures that seem to morph away into pixels. He has the incredible ability of creating the optical illusion of animals and human figures breaking down into smaller building blocks. This transformative effect gives his work a dynamic and contemporary feel, despite the traditional medium.
While Han’s sculptures are already stunning in their own right, the addition of the pixelated effect introduces an additional layer of complexity, depth, and intrigue to his pieces. These sculptures are not just static objects, they seem to be in a state of constant transformation, as if caught in the act of dissolving into thin air.
