Feathered Personalities: Bird Photos by Marc Thevissen

German photographer Marc Thevissen, better known online as Amselon_Pictures, has a passion for capturing the character of birds in the wild. Based in Bonn, Marc explores forests, wetlands and other natural environments with his camera, patiently waiting for moments that reveal everything from gentle curiosity to feeding, singing and nest-building behavior.

His portfolio includes everything from tightly framed portraits of puffins, owls and other striking species to wider scenes that place smaller birds within their surroundings. Soft backgrounds often isolate each subject, drawing attention to colorful plumage, expressive eyes and tiny details, while branches, foliage and rocky landscapes add natural framing.

Marc shoots with a Canon EOS R7 paired with telephoto zoom lenses that give him the reach needed to photograph wildlife without getting too close. A hobby photographer with a passion for nature, he began sharing his bird and wildlife photography on Instagram in 2024.
