Faceted Paper Grids: Geometric Sculptures by Ramon Ramos

Spanish-born, Vancouver-based artist Ramón Ramos creates wall-mounted paper sculptures built from hundreds of small folded units, arranged into shifting fields of color and light. We first featured his geometric paper art back in 2022, and his practice has since expanded into commissions for a luxury hotel in Dubai and a Vancouver architecture firm, alongside gallery exhibitions across North America.

His process starts with a modular system: hexagons, cubes or curved kite shapes are cut and creased by hand, then set at slight angles to the wall. Ramón pushes the color across the grid in gradients, so a field of copper mirror card slides into olive, or a lattice of pink and green resolves into a perfect circle when viewed head-on. The folds catch real shadow, turning flat paper into something closer to pixelated relief. It’s a precise, almost digital logic executed entirely by hand, with craft effectively standing in for code.
