Eighties Excess: Nostalgia-Infused Artwork by AKBERLIN
Published Jun 3, 2024
Berlin-based illustrator Akber Ahmed, aka AKBERLIN, has taken a nostalgic deep dive into the 80s with his latest artwork, “Eighties Excess.” This incredibly detailed piece, which looks like a page out of the “Where’s Waldo?” series, is brimming with vibrant colors and intricate details.
“Eighties Excess” is a time capsule that showcases the essence of a decade marked by flamboyance, cultural shifts and significant historical events. With over 350 references carefully embedded within the artwork, every inch of the canvas holds a secret.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. A closer look reveals some darker elements intertwined within its chaotic scenes. Hidden among the neon lights and retro fashion are references to the economic disparities, political scandals and social issues that marked the decade.
To see if you can find all 350 references in AKBERLIN’s incredibly detailed artwork, check out the full image on his website.
