Why the Arzopa Z1RC is the Best Portable Monitor for Nintendo Switch 2

Big-screen gaming for your Switch 2, wherever you take it.

The Nintendo Switch 2 introduced a number of key improvements over the original Switch, including a larger 7.9-inch screen and the ability to play at 4K 60Hz when docked. But although the bigger screen is great, it might still not be enough for some while playing on the go, especially if you’re using it in tabletop mode to play with a group of friends.

That’s when a portable monitor really comes in handy. One of the best options we’ve tested for Nintendo’s new console is the Arzopa Z1RC, a 16-inch portable display that checks all the right boxes for the Switch 2.

Why it’s a great fit for the Switch 2

2.5K Resolution

The Switch 2 can now handle 4K when docked, but on a 16-inch screen, 4K is just overkill. The Z1RC’s 2.5K QHD (2560 × 1600) panel hits the sweet spot for clarity and detail, giving you crisp, vibrant visuals without going overboard.

Smooth 60Hz Refresh Rate

The Z1RC runs at 60Hz, perfectly matching the Switch 2’s output in docked mode to deliver smooth, stutter-free gameplay with no input lag.

HDR Support

Another bonus is the Z1RC’s HDR support, which helps deliver richer colors and deeper contrast. While the Switch 2’s HDR settings aren’t as simple to configure as on other consoles, once you get it right, the Z1RC’s HDR mode will give you a decent boost in brightness and detail.

Perfect for Travel

At just 770 grams (1.7 pounds) and only 7.62mm (0.3 inches) thick, the Z1RC is slim and light enough to slip into any backpack or carry-on. Whether you’re heading to a friend’s place or taking it on a trip, this monitor is super easy to carry around. It also comes with a sleek and sturdy built-in kickstand, perfect for tabletop mode.

Solid Built-In Speakers

Unlike many portable monitors that skimp on audio, the Z1RC packs impressive built-in speakers. That means one less accessory to carry if you’re gaming in a hotel room, at a café, or anywhere you’d rather not pack external speakers or headphones.

Plug and Play

On the left side of the Z1RC, you’ll find a mini HDMI port and two USB-C ports, and it comes with everything you need to get started: a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and a mini HDMI to HDMI cable.

Unlike the original Switch, though, the Switch 2 doesn’t output video and power over USB-C directly to portable monitors like this one (at least for now). Instead, you’ll have to connect your Switch 2 via HDMI while docked and use any standard USB-C charger to power the display. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a few of those lying around already.

More than just a Switch 2 screen

When you’re not gaming, the Z1RC doubles as a portable display for your laptop or smartphone. This is great for getting work done on the go or adding a handy extra screen to your desk setup. It’s also compatible with other popular handhelds like the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally, plus consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That’s a lot of flexibility for a single monitor.

Pricing & availability

Right now, you can pick up the Z1RC for just $109.98 on Amazon or $129.99 directly from Arzopa’s website. That’s an excellent value for the features and flexibility it offers, making it a smart buy for Switch 2 owners and anyone looking for a solid portable display.

A great budget alternative

If you’re looking for something a bit more affordable, the Arzopa A1S is also worth a look. This 14-inch 1080p portable monitor comes in at just $63, making it another great option for the Switch 2. You can find it on Amazon and Arzopa’s own website.
