Dot by Dot: Lettering Creations by Maxime Bolis
Published Mar 24, 2026
Paris-based graphic designer and lettering artist Maxime Bolis crafts his compositions one dot at a time. Using a meticulous stippling technique, he transforms letterforms into textured, dimensional objects.
Across his portfolio, Maxime shifts between styles with ease, from bold block lettering that stretches into sculptural forms to flowing scripts that loop and overlap with a clear sense of rhythm and precision. In each piece, the structure is clear, then gradually softened and enriched through thousands of individual marks. The closer you look, the more the process reveals itself, with subtle variations in spacing and pressure shaping volume and tone.
Stippling is a technique that demands patience and time, and Maxime leans into that meditative process, letting it become part of the visual language itself.
