Delfino Fidel Turns Everyday Symbols into Witty Sculptures

Swiss artist Delfino Fidel turns familiar symbols and ideas into playful objects with a sharp edge. Working from his studio in Arogno, he creates sculptures that blend pop culture, everyday gestures and unexpected material choices, then nudges them into new territory. The results look amusing at first glance, but they quickly reveal a more pointed commentary on the current state of the world.

Some of his pieces transform emojis into strange duck hybrids that march across the floor. Others reimagine animals, toys or branded objects with a surreal sense of irony. A Kinder Surprise grenade, a globe shaped like a roast chicken, a charred wooden motorbike, or a handbag perched on robot legs all hover between comedy and critique. Delfino uses bright colors and bold, simplified silhouettes to disarm the viewer, then relies on juxtaposition to spark reflection on consumer culture, identity and the contradictions of contemporary life.
