Currents of Solitude: New Aerial Photos of Iceland by Jan Erik Waider

Jan Erik Waider returns with another breathtaking study of northern landscapes, this time capturing the serene poetry of Iceland’s south coast. Currents of Solitude follows a lone rider moving across black sand as glacial water curls and shifts in ribbons of yellow and blue. Seen from above, the scene becomes almost abstract. The presence of the horse and rider provides a sense of scale, emphasizing their smallness within this vast elemental landscape.

Jan’s keen eye for atmospheric detail is on full display. Patterns ripple across the water like brushed pigment, while winds sweep thin veils of sand across the beach.
