Creepy & Cute Collectibles: The Strange Sculptures of Cocoon Toy
Published Jul 22, 2025
Ukrainian artists Anna Lesnichaya and Ivan Grodzensky are the creative minds behind Cocoon Toy, a growing collection of handcrafted art toys that blend eerie charm with unexpected warmth. Their creepy-but-cute creature sculptures take inspiration from alien lifeforms, mythical monsters, and otherworldly pets you didn’t know you needed.
We first featured Anna’s work back in 2020, when she had just made the leap from web design into full-time creature crafting. Since then, her partner Ivan, a former furniture designer, joined the venture full-time after the war in Ukraine forced the couple to leave their home and start over.
What began as a passion project became a shared mission: to create beauty and spark wonder in difficult times. And it’s working. Cocoon Toy has grown into a global phenomenon, with over 3,000 pieces sold to collectors in more than 1,100 cities worldwide, from Hollywood stars to university students.
