Cracked Anatomy & Surreal Paintings by Paul Jackson

Toronto-based British artist Paul Jackson creates intricate paintings and drawings where anatomy, pop culture, technology and satire collide. His work moves between noir illustration and surreal pop imagery, often featuring familiar figures, animals or objects split open to reveal unexpected inner worlds.

Across many of Paul’s works, skin cracks like dry plaster, skeletons emerge through polished surfaces, and interiors become stages for commentary on control, consumption and digital dependence. Even when the imagery turns playful, with cartoon references or sci-fi nods, there is always tension underneath. He describes his practice as “art for the age of absurdity,” and that framing fits well, with humanity’s relationship to technology, nature and consumerism appearing as something between a punchline and a warning.
