Cardboard Animal Sculptures by Josh Gluckstein
Published May 10, 2023
London-based artist Josh Gluckstein has been creating realistic animal sculptures entirely from cardboard for the past few years. He started using the material during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a clever way to stay creative with limited resources and a lot of time to think. His work is incredibly detailed and intricate, with each sculpture taking anywhere from a few days to several weeks to complete.
Josh’s creations are inspired by his love of wildlife, and he often chooses animals that are endangered or threatened in some way. He repurposes cardboard to create life-like portraits of elephants, primates, pangolins, and big cats. He tears, cuts, and glues pieces together to form the sculptures, giving them an expressive quality that is captivating.
