Bound by Beauty: Captivating Portraits by Laura Zalenga
Published Oct 2, 2025
This striking and unsettling series of portraits was captured by photographer Laura Zalenga, in collaboration with jewellery designer Luise Zücker, and brought to life by beautiful German soprano Eva Zalenga.
The images show Eva adorned in delicate, cage-like brass structures that frame and obscure her face, often combined with layers of fabric, veils and sculptural headpieces. Ethereal and somewhat claustrophobic, the works explore beauty, fragility and the tension between protection and restriction.
Known for her conceptual portraiture, Laura’s architectural background informs the series with a clean, minimal visual language. Here, her careful balance of geometry and emotion turns the human face into both stage and sculpture, echoing themes of identity and concealment.
