Bleed: Atmospheric Photo Series by Calvin Freeman
Published Oct 1, 2024
“Bleed” is an intriguing series of images by London-based photographer Calvin Freeman. Shot entirely at night, the series is a haunting exploration of deserted urban environments.
This mesmerizing collection revolves around the concept of ‘bleed,’ a term used in printing to describe artwork that extends beyond the edges of a printed piece and is trimmed during production. Through his cinematic images, Calvin aims to evoke a sense of mystery and wonder, leading us to question what exists just out of view. In his own words:
“This series of work is not only showcasing what can be seen, but also posing the question of what cannot be seen, what remains outside of the shot. The images are inviting the viewer to step inside the frame and visualise the environment.”
