Awe-Inspiring Underwater Photos by Matt Porteous

“Ocean Mex” is a series that once again demonstrates British photographer Matt Porteous‘ incredible talent and profound love for the ocean. The series showcases a collection of underwater images captured in Baja, Mexico, featuring the captivating spectacle of the sardine run.

Traveling with Nomad Diving’s Chris and Pancha, a local Mexican couple dedicated to ocean exploration, Matt embarked on a thrilling journey to document the spectacle of striped marlin chasing bait balls. During their dive, the team was also joined by sea lions and the magnificent Brydes Whales.

Every photograph in the series depicts a fleeting moment, immortalizing the spectacle of striped marlins in pursuit of sardine balls. This natural phenomenon, where predatory fish drive their prey into tight groups to feed more efficiently, is rendered in exquisite detail by Matt’s photographic skills.

Matt’s commitment to ocean conservation is evident in his work. His Ocean Culture Life project aims to remind people of the beauty of our oceans and the importance of preserving them.
