Atmospheric Architectural Photos by Alexey Kozhenkov
Published May 14, 2026
Latvian photographer Alexey Kozhenkov captures architecture with a sharp eye for scale, symmetry and mood, focusing on buildings that feel both monumental and strangely detached from their surroundings.
The images you see here cover a striking mix of sites, including the VMA military medical academy in Serbia, Casa Sperimentale and the IULM Communication School building in Italy, the Novgorod Drama Theatre and the Russian Academy of Sciences in Russia. Many of these structures have a heavy, almost cinematic presence, with stacked volumes, exposed concrete, floating sections, gridded windows and sculptural details.
Alexey’s interest in architecture grew out of travel and urban exploration, before developing into a more focused photographic practice after a visit to Copenhagen in 2017. His work keeps that sense of discovery intact, presenting rare and often overlooked buildings with a balance of clean geometry, atmosphere and subtle tension.
